Great book – easy read for busy parents! I really like the format, big font, broken down in to short easy chapters which helps when you have constant interruptions with kids! Very intuitive and really makes you think. I would highly recommend this book!

Relationship experts Les and Leslie Parrott offer their experience as psychologists and as parents in what is more than just another parenting book. In discussing personal “perfect ten” traits to teach their two boys, they accompany each trait’s chapter with a “self-test” for parents to see how they themselves measure up. I particularly appreciated the sections on being authentic, in which they emphasized that those who look for lack of trust will find exactly that, and on being prayerful, in which they outlined how to explain the ACTS method of prayer (which all of we in Moms in Touch groups use!)to a child. Although my children are out of the nest, I still find useful nuggets in the book!

What kind of parent are you? What kind of parent do you want to be? Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott examine parenting in this new book from Zondervan. Did you know who you are is more important than what you do? Your kids are watching and listening and learning from YOU and they WILL copy your traits. This book helps examine ten traits parents can possess and how each will benefit your child. I know personally it has definitely given me insights on how to become a better parent and I’m ready to put them to the test. I want my kids to grow up to be the best people they can be, and if I can change my behaviors and parenting to help them be so, then sign me up! With its fairly short chapters, most people should have no problem getting through the chapter without interruptions. I took notes and read over them before going on to the next chapter the next day. Now, the question is, do YOU have the courage to be the parent you want to be? Step one is to buy this book, then read it, and then put it into use. Good luck, and happy parenting!

I just received my copy of The Parent You Want To Be and couldn’t put it down until I finished reading it. As the Mother of 4 daughters this book put parenting into perspective. It was easy to read and made me do a lot of thinking about my priorities. It is a great book for anyone with children. I highly recommend it!
